Battery sector: an overview of conformity processes
A battery is a product where several regimes intersect, from transport to vehicle type-approval and the EU Batteries Regulation. UN 38.3 is mandatory for transport without exception; use on a vehicle is subject to UNECE R100, and placing on the EU market is subject to the carbon-footprint, recycled-content and battery-passport requirements of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.
